Through Moss and Mist – A Routeburn Track Visual Story

Peak Light Newsletter May 2025

Hi everyone, and welcome to this edition of the Peak Light newsletter.
Whether you’re here for the latest updates, photography insights, or captivating stories from New Zealand, I’m excited to share what’s new.

In this issue, I share my recent experience photographing one of NZ’s most beautiful walks: the Routeburn Track.

Through Moss and Mist: Hiking the Routeburn Track

I recently returned from hiking the Routeburn Track—one of New Zealand’s most breathtaking Great Walks. Over three days and 33 kilometres, I followed misty rivers, climbed through moss-draped forests, and stood beneath rain-fed waterfalls, all with a camera in hand.

This new blog post shares that journey in images and words—a visual story shaped by changing weather, soft light, and the challenge of photographing on the move. Whether you’re a photographer, traveller, or nature lover, I think you’ll find something in it that speaks to the quiet magic of the wild.

And if you’d like to linger with these scenes longer, you can take the experience further with the downloadable eBook or bring one home as a fine art print.
